Title: Death Unmasked Author: Rick Sulik Genre: Fiction, Crime, Murder Pages: 265 Publisher: Christopher  Matthews Publishing Rating: 3.8/5 Death Unmasked  by Rick Sulik is a story about reincarnation and revenge and personally, I love this combination! Add some murders and a few chases and you have my attention, alright! Sean Jamison is a Homicide detective in Houston and is about to get retired when there is an urgent serial killing case that requires his expertise. While on the case, Sean realizes that he was Emil in his previous birth and both his wife and he were killed in the most brutal way as a result of being war prisoners. The murderer has a final strike to make before he leaves town but will Sean and his team be able to stop him? Will Sean finally be...

Book Review: Wants and Desires - A Psychological Thriller

Image
Title: Wants and Desires - A Psychological Thriller Author: Chitrangada Mukherjee Genre: Fiction, Thriller, Murder Pages: 134 Publisher: Chitrangada Mukherjee Rating: 4/5 A classic who-dun-it with a subtle but admirably mysterious background,  Wants and Desires by Chitrangada Mukherjee is a good psychological thriller, perfect for a rainy weekend. Sukanto Bhattacharjee dies suddenly soon after his 35th birthday in his house. He is found in his study, with his head on the desk and arms wrapped around it, as if sleeping peacefully. He leaves behind his mother, his wife and friends and they are all suspects, according to the police. A letter is found hidden under a crystal jug in the study, which doesn't seem quite like a suicide note but definitely hints towards it. The suspects, each with their own vice, talk kindly of the deceased but one of them is the murderer. If it was a murder after all. I was so proud reading this book. Ou...

Title: Sleep Savannah Sleep Author: Alistair Cross Genre: Fiction, Thriller, Horror, Occult Pages: 288 Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform Rating: 4/5 Sleep Savannah Sleep   by Alistair Cross is a book in the horror/occult genre which I don't usually prefer. Buy from Amazon.in Title:  In The Name Of God Author: Ravi Subramanian Genre: Fiction, Crime, Thriller Pages: 405 Publisher: Penguin Random House India Rating: 4/5 A new release,  In The Name of God  by Ravi Subramanian , had my attention when the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvanathapuram was mentioned in the blurb. Being my husband's hometown, I visit the city and the temple every year and have been updated about the "treasure" and "vaults" since the very beginning. But when you mix culture with a fictitious murder story, my curiosity just piqued and I ordered the book immediately. Couldn't resist! The book begins with a jewelry heist in one of the prominent malls in Dubai. The perpetrators escape but leave behind a clue, leading the investigation to India. While in Delhi, the investigation is being followed, down south in Thiruvanathapuram, the wealth in the vaults inside the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple is ordered to be audi...

My Top 5 Agatha Christie Books

Image
*This is not a sponsored post* Whether you are new to Agatha Christie or have been basking in the intricacies of the said genius, this list will, hopefully, be helpful anyway. It is a list of my personal favorites. If you are a Christie fan and have a different list to this one, then please do share it with me. I'd love to know! It was a tough task to select only five titles for this lot. I have edited and re-edited the list so many times, yet it feels like something is missing. Sigh! Well, that's how her books are, all equally amazing. She's not known the Queen of Crime for nothing! Just a little introduction before I begin. I read my first Christie novel when I was 13 I guess, not too sure. Until then I was solving mysteries with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys but when I read a Christie, I suddenly felt grown up! I didn't even understand all of it at first, but I remember re-reading it only to be captured in this trance of unimaginable plots and human psychology...

Image
Buy from Amazon.in Title:  Death Under The Deodars - The Adventures of Miss Ripley-Bean Author: Ruskin Bond Genre: Fiction, Mystery, Murder Pages: 208 Publisher: Penguin Random House India Rating: 3.7/5 After being on my wishlist since it's release,   Death Under the Deodars   finally arrived and I was over the moon! I get excited about things like the book being a hardback instead of a regular paperback and that each story began with a small sketch of deodar trees drawn in freehand. The cover is as mysterious as it can get, but if it is Ruskin Bond, you cannot expect any less, can you? The book is the latest one from Mr. Bond and is a collection of 8 short stories. The characters remain the same in all the stories, with events evolving around them. Miss Ripley-Bean is the central character in the book. She is seventy plus and has many stories to share. She lives in a portion of the Royal Hotel in Mussorie, which belonged to her f...
