I wasn't impressed by the first book by the same author, The Monogram Murders , but had hopes for this one. To the review then, shall we? Lady Athelinda Playford, a popular children's mystery writer, is hosting a party and Hercule Poirot and Inspector Edward Catchpool are invited. Lady Playford doesn't give any reason for inviting a detective and an inspector to her house but when she makes the announcement of her new will at the dining table, Poirot is confused and his grey cells, agile. Lady Playford has changed her will to leave everything she owns to Joseph Scotcher, her secretary, who has only a few weeks to live. Her children are to get absolutely nothing. The mystery further causes confusion when Joseph is bruta...

I had decided to buy just two books that day and, well, one of them had to be Poirot! It is a new Poirot tale by Sophie Hannah. So, here goes. Hercule Poirot is enjoying his meal in a coffee house when a woman rushes in. She seems agitated and tells him that someone is out to kill her and that when it is done, justice would be served. Puzzled and curious, Hercule Poirot makes up his mind to help Jennie. The next day, Poirot learns of the monogram murders  in a plush hotel in the city. He gets there with Inspector Catchpool to find three murders in three different rooms of the hotel. Each body is laid out perfectly with a monogrammed cuff link in each of the victim's mouth. As P...

Buy From Amazon.in Title:  Murder In The Mews Author: Agatha Christie Genre: Mystery, Murder Pages: 378 Publisher: Harper Collins ISBN- 13:  9780007299812 Rating: 4/5 It is time for another Agatha Christie book review.  Murder in the Mews  is a collection of four short stories, all featuring my most favorite detective Hercule Poirot. So without further ado, let's get down to business. Murder in The Mews is the name of the first story. Poirot is faced with a murder which appears as a suicide but, is it really? A woman is found dead inside her room, of which the door and window are locked from the inside. But Poirot is sure it isn't what it looks like. The second story is called  The Incredible Theft  where Poirot is summoned to investigate a matter of stolen military documents linked to a possible ghost sighting. Not believing the ghost part one bit, he gets...

Poirot - The Ultimate Detective

Image
This is a post from my personal blog I,Me,Myself . Since it was about Agatha Christie, thought I should share it here too. Tu Mera Hero, Poirot! David Suchet as Hercule Poirot Image courtesy: http://www.agathachristie.com/christies-work/detectives/poirot/1 All my life I have been reading and re-reading Agatha Christie's books. I absolutely love them. She has this ingenious capability to create some of the most flawless and complex plots and characters. But Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective with his distinguishing egg shaped head and stiff mustache, is Christie's masterpiece. Just yesterday I was watching a Poirot movie. The Mystery of the Blue Train. Although I always maintain that nothing can beat the experience of reading, I was curious. Seeing David Suchet portraying him just made me smile. Oh, what an excitement to watch the clever, hot chocolate loving neat freak on screen! He looked exactly the picture I had always imagined. And so immaculately repres...
