Chalk Dust: Stories

Buy From Amazon.com Title:  Chalk Dust : Stories Author: Pedro Freire Costa Genre: Fiction, Short Stories File Size: 1777 KB Print Length: 107 pages Publisher: Editorial Bizancio Lda ASIN: B01HQ3JPZ4 Rating: 3.8/5 This is an e-book that I received from the author for a review. Chalk Dust: Stories  is a collection of seven short stories based in Portugal.  The stories describe the typical way of life of the Portuguese with great detail and effectiveness. They are set in different time periods and the focus is on how the slow, laid back life of the villagers can sometimes have an interesting turn of events, some sad and some fascinating. Particularly, stories namely The Private Life of Ilda Gomes , Loyal to the End , Chalk Dust and The Honour of Gamblers showcased a  fine combination of humor and sentiments. But the other stories were a tad too detailed and persistent for my liking.  Altogether , the book is a good read for most of th...

Krisco Genre: Fiction, Mystery, Crime Pages: 328 Publisher: Jaico Publishing House ISBN-13:  978-8184957099 Rating: 4/5 Few books have the power to transport you back to childhood. For me, any book with Sherlock Holmes in it, does the trick. I remember borrowing books from friends and reading them huddled in a corner of my bed. It was a perfect accompaniment to wintry nights. It still is. Sherlock Holmes: The Golden Years  is a collection of five stories or five cases if you will after our dear Holmes has retired from active crime solving. The book opens with the story The Bonnie Bag of Bones where in both Holmes and Watson, solve an old mystery up in the misty hills of Scotland. The Curse of The Black Feather is a story where both are approached to put an end to 'baby farming'. Holmes  and Watson, with the help of a gypsy woman, help bust the ope...

Chetan Bhagat's New Book up for Pre Order

Image
One Indian Girl is the next book by Chetan Bhagat due to release in October 2016. Here is the summary of the book. **** Hi, I'm Radhika Mehta and I'm getting married this week. I work at Goldman Sachs, an investment bank. Thank you for reading my story. However, let me warn you. You may not like me too much. One, I make a lot of money. Two, I have an opinion on everything. Three, I have had a boyfriend before. OK, maybe two. Now if all this was the case with a guy, one might be cool with it. But since I am a girl these three things I mentioned don’t really make me too likeable, do they? ***** We'll have to wait and see if this one, too, reads like a movie script! ;-) The book is up for pre order on Amazon. For those who thought that meditation is a closed- eyed phenomenon, I beg to differ. And offer them Open- eyed Meditations, a book that shows another perspective to meditation. When you are open to life, life opens up to you. The upper limit of your ability to learn is determined by the upper limit of your desire to learn. Nature is actually a school that happily teaches eager students the secret lessons of life. Open-eyed Meditations is a collection of thoughts about various aspects of life that is purely inspired by observing the world through the lenses of the Vedic epics. Each meditation in the book deals with a modern problem that each one of us encounters in life and is accompanied b...
