Book review: Sweet Reality - Reality Star Book 2

Title: Sweet Reality - Reality Star Book 2
Author: Laura Heffernan
Genre: Fiction, Romance
Pages: 236
Publisher: Lyrical Shine

Rating: 3.8/5

Sweet Reality by Laura Heffernan is the second book in the Reality Star series. If you haven't read the first one, no worries, this book can be read as a standalone. A fun, romantic comedy, the newly released Sweet Reality is sure to make your day if you are a lover of the said genre.

Jen and Justin are back together on another reality show. They met in their last show and have been a loved couple since they quit together. This time, they have been invited, along with other stars of various reality shows, to a free cruise to the Caribbean. Jen and Sarah, Justin's sister, are all set to open a cake shop called Sweet Reality when they realize that they have unexpected competition. While Sarah is back home figuring out new recipes to make Sweet Reality unique, Jen and Justin are off to the paid vacation they have been looking forward to and to also get hands on Tammy Rae's cupcake's secret ingredient. But unexpected surprises follow Jen on board when she finds out that Ariana, Justin's ex and Jen's arch enemy, is accompanying them. Among exes, the watchful eyes of the production team and cupcake recipes, Jen realizes that this is going to be one heck of a vacation!

Sweet Reality is a reality show by itself! It has all the necessary ingredients- gossip, loads of drama, exes, love interests, strategies- everything. A well written book, the story sets sail (pun intended) and is an entertainer all the way. Narrative is casual, with specks of humor, and the pace of the story carries readers inside the scheming minds of the contestants and the emotions they go through.

Jen and Justin are this lovable, dreamy couple. Jen's character is so down to earth and relatable. The twist in the story is the secret ingredient of Tammy's cupcakes! Unimaginable! With so many cakes and delicacies around, how can one put the book down?

I enjoyed this book although I must be frank, I do not watch reality shows at all. But the story had a mix of sugar and spice and everything nice! It was worth the read!

Recommended to all who love chick lits and romance!
